Mike Ergo, USMC Combat Veteran, IRONMAN

“As a man who is a combat veteran with PTSD, who is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma, and an ironman triathlete, the treatment experienced at The6 has improved three major areas of my life.

From our first conversation, I knew the organization was sensitive to my overall wellness. I have experimented with and been treated with several trauma modalities during my career as a patient in the VA system and private healthcare settings including prolonged exposure, EMDR, narrative therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction, combat focus groups, trauma-informed yoga, several mindfulness workshops, a 5-day silent meditation retreat, and my own approach through my triathlon and endurance training.

In addition to the benefits to my wellness and how it has helped improve my social, family, and occupational functioning, two programed rehab therapy sessions helped achieve a personal best in my most recent half ironman race (70.3 miles), despite a suboptimal recovery time from a previous full ironman in the spring. I would not have believed this result had I not experienced it myself.
The6 Foundation bridges these frustrating gaps in an age where despite all of the resources and money poured into the VA, we still have my brothers and sisters taking their lives because of untreated physical pain. Their work connects the dots that western medicine is still slow in connecting, and they’ve helped me break through to a higher level of functioning, wellness, and athletic performance. I cannot overstate how the organizations work will change the course of mental health treatment with veterans, and all those who carry trauma with them each day.”

“I was referred to The6 Foundation by a fellow law enforcement office who is also a veteran. He was treated by Sonya and had amazing things to say. When he told me they were “vet friendly” I was immediately comfortable. His time with The6 proved so fruitful that he sang them praises and I knew I needed to schedule an appointment.

I was suffering from some severe lower back issues; they have been present for numerous years and had only gotten worse. After a couple of sessions with Sonya, I was well on the right track and feeling terrific. The first few sessions she used Active Release Techniques that were so powerful but indeed very helpful. My range of motion and flexibility seemed to increase immediately. I am in a place now that I am much more flexible, eager to exercise because I am relatively pain free, and most importantly my body can now keep up with my hectic schedule and day-to-day routine as a law enforcement office. As a bonus, Sonya is perpetually optimistic. This, in conjunction with her support of veterans and law enforcement, yields an absolutely priceless benefit because she makes you see the positives. I am forever grateful of Sonya’s work, and I’m not sure where I’d be without her expertise!”

“When I walked into The 6, I was a mess. I knew I had a problem in my lower back but I couldn’t see that my body was compensating and causing other problems. The 6 Foundation took the time to treat all of my issues. Today, I am in a position to avoid surgery and continue working. A few months ago, I didn’t think that was going to happen.”

“I was put in touch with Sonya through a former coworker after my injury. Before even having met she opened her doors to me and my family to help in any way she could. I immediately knew that I was in the right place and with the right people. Sonya and Steve take amazing care of me. All of the staff at the six are so friendly and welcoming. It's a great place to relax, heal, and have a laugh”

“I have been under the6 Foundations care for some months now. I’m continually amazed by their dedication and compassion with myself and other vets. Sonya works tirelessly to provide treatment and support with a cheerful and uplifting demeanor. We exchange regular texts outside of office visits and hours. I know I can count on her wise counsel when I need it! She is always willing to advise me regarding my multiple forms of treatment for my chronic pain and PTSD!! Sonya is an absolute jewel and I’m proud to have her and her family in my life.”

“I cannot sing enough praise to Sonya and the team at The6 Clinic. As a patient lost in the corporate healthcare system and constantly dismissed, my pain and physical ailments were validated the moment I came through the door for my first visit. I have found both support and pain relief from the team, most notable with Becca, Sonya, and Steve.

If you’ve been curious about giving The6 a try, don’t hold back any longer. Allow their strong hands, adaptive techniques, and caring hearts to play a key role in your health. From Rachael and the rest of the back of house team, to Sonya and the care team breaking up every fiber of pain in your body, you won’t regret coming in.”
